I read a story in the paper today about a Battle Creek Amtrak Accident. According to Battle Creek Police, a driver was injured when they allegedly ran into a moving Amtrak train. According to witnesses, the car allegedly came to a stop at the railroad crossing on Helmer Road and slowly moved forward as the gate came down. The crossing gate smashed the windshield and the vehicle proceeded to cross the tracks when its front end was hit by the Amtrak train and ripped off. The driver was taken to the hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time. Police continue to investigate the accident.

I read tragic story in the paper yesterday about an Emmett Township Fatal Car Accident. I read tragic story over the weekend about a Sanilac County Car Accident Fatalityon Stone Road near Sheldon Road in Argyle Township on July 17th. A Snover man was a passenger in a 1995 Ford pick-up truck when the driver allegedly lost control and rolled the truck, according to police.

The driver sustained serious injuries but the passenger was declared dead on the scene. Police suspect alcohol may have been a factor and continue to investigate.

I have written a number of articles on boating accidents and tubing injuries in Michigan.  While the Michigan lakes provide great summer fun, there is a significant risk of injury with water sports.  I just read a terrible news story about a Van Buren County boating accident that has seriously injured two teens from Illinois.

According to the report, three boys were on tubes behind a speed boat when two of the tubes collided and then struck the third tube.  The boys were thrown from the tubes and suffered serious injuries.  My thoughts go out to the boys and their families and I hope for a speedy and full recovery.

The man was airlifted to University of Michigan Medical Center. He is in stable condition. Police continue to investigate this accident.
