Montcalm County Boat Accident Kills Fisherman

Don Curtis Sargeant was killed in a Michigan boat accident that took place on a small lake south of Sheridan, at M-66 and East Boyer Road in Montcalm County. Sargeant, along with another man, Kent Owen Johns were out  fishing when one of them stood up to cast causing the boat to flip and tossing them into the water.  Johns was able to swim to shore.

I am very sorry to hear about this tragic accident and my condolences go out to the family of the deceased victim.

Victims of boating accidents in Michigan do have legal rights. If you are injured due to the negligence of another boater or even to the driver of the boat that you are being pulled by, a claim for compensation can often by made against the estate of the at-fault driver. Typically, the boat owner has insurance that provides coverage for boat accident claims.
