Hurricane Ike Creates Lake Michigan E Coli Risk

Hurricane Ike has created a risk of E. Coli along the Lake Michigan shoreline.  Heavy rains from the hurricane have resulted in a higher than average amount of runoff which has seeped into Lake Michigan.  This runoff contains contaminated water which has affected near-shore navigation and raised E. Coli bacteria levels to unsafe levels.  Although the area of primary concern is the Illinois and Indiana shoreline, residents in Michigan should also be aware of the danger. For more information on E. Coli visit our firm’s website.
