Commerce Township Car Accident

An 18-year-old girl was injured in a Commerce Township Car Accident on May 13th. According to local police, the girl and her boyfriend were allegedly engaged in horseplay when she jumped on the hood of her boyfriends moving car, only to fall off and subsequently be run over by his 1996 Buick Roadmaster. She was rushed to Beaumont hospital were she is in critical but stable condition suffring from broken ribs, broken arms, a broken ankle and internal bleeding. The boyfriend was cited by the police for reckless driving.

I am very sorry to hear about his accident and wish all the injured party a speedy and full recovery.

Michigan car accident victims have a number of legal rights.  For this type of accident, the injured girl can  submit a claim for Michigan No-Fault insurance benefits.  No-Fault benefits will cover her medical expenses, lost wages, attendant care, replacement services, and other benefits related to injuries suffered in the accident.  The injured girl can claim these benefits even if she did not have an automobile insurance policy.

In addition, the injury victim may be able to file a lawsuit against the persons driving the car.  Even though she is the boyfriend of the driver, the insurance company for the driver must still cover any injuries. In this lawsuit, she can claim damages and compensation for the injuries suffered in the accident.  The insurance company for the negligent driver typically pays a settlement for this type of case.

An experienced Michigan car accident lawyer can assist the victim with this type of claim.  Accident victims should not speak with the insurance adjuster for the negligent driver before consulting with an attorney.
