Michigan Bill May Pass To Ban Pit Bulls

Our Michigan dog bite lawyersare reporting a bill that my be passed to ban pit bulls in Michigan. Rep. Timothy Bledsoe introduced legislation that would regulate and then ultimately ban three breeds of dogs: American pit bull terriers, American Staffordshire bull terriers, and Staffordshire bull terriers. This bill would work in three phases. First, the bill would ban the breeding of these three dogs, and mixed breeds which include these dogs within the first year. Second, after four years, no one can own any of these dog breeds which have not been sterilized. Lastly, after ten years, no one will be allowed to own and of those dog breeds.

The main conversation which will be had amongst the legislature regarding this bill is weather or not the increase in aggressive behavior of these dogs is due to breeding or upbringing. This is a key question in determining the outcome of this bill.

Sargeant, along with another man, Kent Owen Johns were out  fishing when one of them stood up to cast causing the boat to flip and tossing them into the water.  Johns was able to swim to shore.

I am very sorry to hear about this tragic accident and my condolences go out to the family of the deceased victim.
