As a Michigan personal injury, I am often asked by family members, friends, and others what a personal injury lawyer does and why hiring the right lawyer for an accident case is so important.  Quite often, someone will ask why a divorce lawyer cannot handle a Michigan car accident case or why a criminal lawyer cannot handle a Michigan wrongful death case.

If your accident was investigated by the Michigan State Police, you need to request the report directly from that agency.  You can download the Michigan State Police form here that you must complete and submit to obtain the Michigan State Police report.  For all others, I suggest that you contact the police department directly to find out their requirements.
